Raw Material

This product is made primarily from Wool and Hemp.

Wool production is associated with intensive farming, comparatively high water pollution footprint and very high impact on global warming due to sheep manure responsible for greenhouse gas emissions. Whilst it is generally biodegradable it depends on the finishings used. Still due to its natural and durable properties it has a low eco impact.

Hemp fibre, derives from the hemp plant that is relatively sustainable crop: it uses 50% less water than cotton, does not require pesticides or fertilizers, returns 60-70% nutrients to the soil and produce double the amount of fibre per hectare in comparison to cotton. However fibre manufacturing is conventionally carried through a chemical process and is associated with comparatively high water pollution, so its eco impact is high. It is biodegradable, but finishings and dyes can hinder its biodegradability.
